How Our Community Keeps Wicklow Animal Welfare Going

Community & Fundraising

We are so deeply grateful for the kindness and generosity of our supporters. Whether you donate your time, money or energy, every bit of it makes a real difference to the animals in our care.

Over the years, our volunteers and donors have come up with some wonderful ways to help. Some have been simple. Some have been genuinely inspired. All of them have kept us going.

Here are some of the ways our community has been fundraising for WAW, and how you can get involved.

Car Boot Sales

Love a good bargain or a day out at the market? So do we.

We have plenty of pet-friendly items ready to sell at local car boot sales. We just need friendly faces to help run our stalls. Previous favourites have included Brockagh Car Boot and Country Market in Laragh, Greystones Car Boot Sale at St. David's and Ballywaltrim Car Boot Sale in Bray, among others.

It is a fantastic way to raise funds, meet people and spread the word about animal welfare. Check out your local car boot sales and consider hosting one for us. We will sort the stock. You just need to show up.

Run, Jog, Walk... or Crawl

Every step helps.

We are always delighted when supporters take part in runs and walks to raise funds for WAW, from full marathons to the ever-popular VHI Women's Mini Marathon. We have sports t-shirts ready for anyone joining in, and you can choose between sponsorship cards or setting up an online fundraising page.

Whatever your pace, your effort helps keep tails wagging and paws happy. If you are thinking about signing up for something, consider doing it for the animals.

Hampers and Raffles

Many of our kind local businesses host raffles with hampers filled with treats for pets and their people alike.

If your workplace, shop or community group would like to run a raffle in aid of Wicklow Animal Welfare, we would love to help you get started. It is a fun and straightforward way to raise funds and everyone loves a prize.

Get in touch and we will help you put something together.

Themed Events

From Christmas fairs to Easter egg hunts, Valentine's stalls to summer fetes, we are always thrilled to be part of themed events organised by local businesses and community groups.

We are regularly looking for volunteers to represent Wicklow Animal Welfare at these gatherings, sharing our story and connecting with the people around us. It is a few hours well spent.

A special thanks to our wonderful friends at Pet Bliss in Newtownmountkennedy for their continued support and festive cheer each year. It means more than they know.

Christmas Markets

Each year we take part in local Christmas markets and each year we need volunteers to help us run our stalls. It is a magical way to spend a winter's day while doing something genuinely useful for animals in need.

Past favourites have included Kilruddery House and Gardens, Shankill Christmas in the Village and The Plaza Market in Greystones.

Come and join Adrienne and the Wicklow Animal Welfare team this Christmas. Soak up the festive spirit, meet some lovely people and make a real difference while you are at it.

Christmas Cards

Our Christmas cards are sold by wonderful local businesses across Wicklow and beyond each year.

If you would like to stock a batch this year, just let us know and we will arrange delivery. Encourage your local vet, groomer, cafe or workplace to get involved too. It is a small thing that raises both money and awareness, and every card sold starts a conversation about animal welfare.

Every Bit Helps

Your involvement, big or small, keeps our work going and our animals cared for.

Wicklow Animal Welfare receives no government funding. We rely entirely on the generosity of supporters like you. Whether you run a stall, walk a marathon, sell a hamper or stock our Christmas cards, you are directly funding the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of dogs who have nowhere else to go.

If any of the above sounds like something you could take on, or if you have your own idea entirely, we would love to hear from you.
